Big things are happening for trades education in Lane County.

A recent Lookout Eugene-Springfield article highlights how students across Eugene and Springfield are discovering that careers in the trades are a powerful path forward. From HOPE Community Homes builds to mock interviews and a talent-match event at Reynolds Electric, Plumbing, Heating and Air, students are gaining hands-on exposure to careers in electrical, plumbing, welding, and beyond.

These opportunities are made possible through the collaboration of many partners across the region, including Connected Lane County, Lane Education Service District, Collaborative EDO, Delta Sand & Gravel Co., PIVOT Architecture, Reynolds Electric, Plumbing, Heating and Air, HOPE Community Homes, Lane Career Academy, Lane Community College, Peterson Cat, North Eugene High School, Thurston High School, Springfield High School, Sheldon High School, Willamette High School, Gateways High School, and many others.

Through these partnerships, students are connecting classroom learning to real career opportunities in the skilled trades.

The message is getting through. Students are noticing. And the work being done across our region is helping create stronger pathways to rewarding careers.
