Success Stories - Cavey
"Hi, my name is Cavey. I was enrolled in the Lane Workforce Partnership youth program while still in high school. I came from a difficult background and found myself involved with the wrong friends.
Shellye, my WIA counselor, helped me to stay on the right track to graduate from high school. She helped me plan for my future. I knew I wanted to be a firefighter but didn’t know how to get started.

"My WIA counselor helped me to stay on the right track and graduate from high school.
I’m excited about my future. I couldn’t have done it without the help of the youth program."

Shellye set me up with a paid internship with the Eugene Fire Department. There, I met a lot of people who have given me advice and in what career paths to go.
With money from the program, Shellye bought me purchase work boots, pants and everything I needed to get my day’s work done.
We looked into the LCC Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program and found out information on how I could get into the program. Shellye helped me enroll in the EMT program at LCC.
I have moved on to the Goshen Fire Department where I am a resident volunteer who goes on calls and is part of the on call shift. As a career path, I plan on getting hired on in a big city fire department where they have a javascript:;large call volume and I will be in an exciting environment all the time."
