On the Job Training

On July 1, 2010, the Lane Workforce Partnership launched the region’s On-the-Job Training (OJT) program administered through our workforce center, WorkSource Lane.

OJT is a business service which offers an employer up to $4,000 for hiring an eligible job seeker or current employee who is almost perfect, but is lacking a skill, or set of skills, AND is willing to train them on the job.  In addition to the financial benefit, the human resource assistance available can be just as valuable.

VALUE ADDED SERVICES

WorkSource Lane staff can:

  • Help you write a thorough job description, accessing the most current local wage information
  • Promote your opening to hundreds of applicants
  • Screen applicants to find just the right match, based on criteria you define
  • Administer skill assessments such as typing and computer skills, as well as math, English, and industry/job specific titles (choose from hundreds)
  • Schedule interviews at WorkSource Lane, in a quiet, confidential environment
  • Help you write a training plan that will outline your expectations and measure your success
  • Be your partner throughout the training period to provide assistance as needed
  • Process the minimal paperwork required for timely payment from our local administration office

Under an established OJT agreement between Lane Workforce Partnership and an employer, Lane Workforce Partnership agrees to a training plan for the employee and a wage reimbursement amount for the employer.  Training must be separate and different from the training and orientation that the employer routinely provides to new employees.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?

These services are provided at no cost because they have already been paid for with our tax dollars!
