Employer Workforce Training Funds
PURPOSE OF FUNDS
Governor Kulongoski created the Employer Workforce Training Funds to support the retention and growth of family wage jobs, offer new skills and opportunities for Oregon’s workers and to keep Oregon’s businesses viable and competitive in a global market.
Administrated by the Lane Workforce Partnership through a competitive bid process, the funds are to be used to upgrade the skills of the private sector workforce in order to increase productivity, keep businesses viable and competitive, and to offer new skills and opportunities to Oregon workers. An additional requirement is that all incumbent worker training be carried out as “part of a layoff aversion strategy.”
Targeted industry clusters for this funding include:
- Manufacturing
- Computer/Software Design
- Healthcare/Life Sciences
- Construction Trades
