Initiatives of Lane Workforce Partnership
As a convener and investor in workforce development, the Lane Workforce Partnership board of directors brings industry leaders together to collaborate and address common workforce issues. Board initiatives include:
State of the Workforce Report
Produced by Lane Workforce Partnership with assistance from the Oregon Employment Department, the State of the Workforce Report consolidates Lane County workforce and industry data, trends and analysis in one convenient place. This executive summary highlights the major findings. View the report here.
Health Care Report
The fastest growing employment sector in Lane County is health care, representing 11% of the area employment, paying higher than average wages. For these reasons, the Lane Workforce Partnership produced the Health Care Report. The Report identifies the fastest growing occupations in health care and gaps in local training programs. The purpose of the Report was to lay the ground work for a community-wide dialog about how to support a sector expected to grow even more as baby boomers age. The Report is available here.
The Community Healthcare Education Network (CHEN)
CHEN is a coalition made up of health care organizations, education, and workforce development professionals. The group addresses workforce issues in the health care industry through collaboration with community partners.
Emerald Valley High Performance Enterprise Consortium (EVHPEC)
Spearheaded by the Lane Workforce Partnership, EVHPEC is a peer-driven learning network where like-minded companies and individuals share best practices in lean/high performance practices, benchmark successes and network with one another. Learning activities include structured learning tours, training classes, guest speakers, executive forums and special interest groups. Click here for more information about the Consortium.
Lane County Manufacturing Skills Alliance
The Lane Manufacturing Skills Alliance is a business driven group that oversees all the manufacturing workforce initiatives in Lane County. Comprised of local manufacturers, educators, economic and workforce development representatives, this group is focused on strengthening the pipeline of workers for Lane County’s technician-level manufacturing jobs and to attract young people to manufacturing careers. The creation of a website, www.lanemanufacturing.org, provides information to local manufacturers, students and jobseekers about Lane County high wage, high demand manufacturing occupations, and profiles and photos of local manufacturers that hire these occupations.
Green Jobs Task Force
Overseen by the Lane Workforce Partnership Board of Directors, the goal of the Green Jobs Task Force is to identify training and workforce needs specific to Lane County’s green industries in order to insure that Lane County workers are prepared for high demand, high wage jobs in this area.
Youth Career Awareness Task Force
The Lane Workforce Partnership board identified as an area of emphasis the promotion of awareness of middle skills jobs and careers to Lane County youth. Middle skills jobs are those jobs that require more than a high school diploma, but less than a four year college degree. Believing that young people and their parents are not aware of middle skill jobs in our community that pay well and have high projected growth rates, the board established a task force of the board to explore/design a career awareness campaign.
